Today we continue in our series of tough topics and we are looking at the charge that the God of the Old Testament is different to, and more violent than, the God of the New Testament. This is a common belief so, if we are to trust the complete Bible we need to examine this charge.

Meanwhile, there were many comments about the helpfulness of last week’s talk on marriage redefinition. If you missed that and would like to follow the debate from a Christian perspective, I recommend the book “Is God anti-gay?” by Sam Alberry who is himself, a same sex attracted Christian. You might also look up the amazing story of Rosaria Champagne Butterfield who moved from radical lesbianism (and in doing so “lost everything but her dog”) to profound trust in Jesus.

Next week we begin a two week series on Philemon before we resume our tough topics with “A Christian Mind on Reconciliation”. This is also topical with the campaign to recognise indigenous people in the Constitution.
